22-9-2025 – Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has purchased an additional 5,419 Bitcoin for approximately $633 million, pushing its total holdings to 25,555 BTC. The transaction, executed at an average price of about $116,724 per Bitcoin, marks another step in Metaplanet’s strategy to bolster its balance sheet with cryptocurrency amid rising institutional interest.
The company, often compared to U.S.-based MicroStrategy for its Bitcoin-focused treasury approach, has seen its Bitcoin yield surge to 395.1% year-to-date in 2025. This latest buy follows a series of acquisitions earlier in the year, including smaller additions in August and September that gradually built its portfolio beyond 20,000 BTC. The move comes as Bitcoin trades above $116,000, reflecting broader market confidence despite volatility.
