8-7-2025 – The XRP community is closely monitoring a scheduled SEC closed-door meeting on July 10, with speculation mounting that the commission could address its ongoing appeal in the Ripple lawsuit.
The SEC’s Sunshine Act Notice lists the 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time meeting as covering “the institution and settlement of injunctive actions and administrative proceedings,”. This language has fueled expectations that the commission might consider dropping its appeal against Ripple Labs, particularly after the company withdrew its counter-appeal last month.
However, legal experts urge caution about reading too much into the scheduled meeting. Former SEC regional director Marc Fagel emphasized that such closed-door sessions occur weekly as routine business, stating that the meeting “tells us nothing about Ripple timing.” Fagel, who has been out of the SEC for over a decade, noted he has no confidential information about the case but expects both parties will eventually drop their appeals.
The prolonged legal battle has significantly impacted XRP’s price movements, with traders closely tracking each development in the case. The SEC’s appeal remains active despite Ripple’s recent withdrawal of its counter-appeal, leaving market participants uncertain about the timeline for resolution.
