7-9-2025 – El Salvador has increased its Bitcoin holdings by 8 BTC over the past week, bringing the nation’s total reserves to 6,292.18 BTC. The addition pushes the value of the country’s Bitcoin treasury to approximately $696 million at current prices, according to on-chain data tracked by the National Bitcoin Office. This comes amid ongoing efforts to diversify reserves, including a recent redistribution of holdings into 14 separate wallets for enhanced security against emerging risks like quantum computing threats.
Since adopting Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021 under President Nayib Bukele, El Salvador has built its reserves through consistent purchases, often one BTC per day, defying pressure from institutions like the International Monetary Fund.
