16-9-2025 – Ethereum’s Privacy Stewards team has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap to mitigate risks of the network evolving into surveillance infrastructure amid its push for widespread adoption. The initiative, formerly known as Privacy and Scaling Explorations, emphasizes three core areas: enabling seamless private on-chain activities like transactions and DeFi through Private Writes; safeguarding against metadata exposure in queries via Private Reads; and simplifying zero-knowledge proofs for mobile use under Private Proving.
This pivot from theoretical research to deployable solutions includes tools like a vulnerability radar and execution map to guide development and community involvement. The roadmap builds on Ethereum’s growth, where scaling for billions in assets demands robust privacy to preserve user trust without compromising transparency.
Ongoing projects span experimental Layer 2 designs with zero-knowledge folding, privacy-focused wallets, confidential DeFi collaborations, and standards for unlinkable credentials, all aimed at fostering a secure “Internet of Value. “Stakeholders will monitor progress on key pilots, such as the Institutional Privacy Task Force and mobile proving systems, expected to roll out in 2026.
