25-7-2025 – Major Ethereum holder Sharplink has appointed former BlackRock managing director Joseph Chalom as co-CEO, intensifying the corporate battle for Ethereum treasury dominance as institutional players scramble to expand their digital asset positions.
Chalom officially joined Sharplink on July 24, bringing extensive experience from his role overseeing digital assets, strategic partnerships, and investments at the world’s largest asset manager. His appointment comes as BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) reached a historic milestone, becoming the third-fastest ETF ever to surpass $10 billion in assets under management, according to Cointelegraph. BlackRock currently manages $95.7 billion in crypto assets across its platform.
The executive transition occurs amid fierce competition in the corporate Ethereum treasury space. BitMine Immersion Technologies recently announced a massive 566,776 ETH acquisition worth over $2 billion, establishing an Ethereum treasury that surpasses Sharplink’s holdings of 360,807 ETH from its $259 million purchase last week. Both companies have recruited high-profile leadership, with Sharplink bringing on Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin as board chairman while BitMine appointed Fundstrat founder Tom Lee to the same role.
Chalom’s background includes instrumental involvement in BlackRock’s ETHA launch in July 2024, along with board positions at tokenized asset platform Securitize and AI analytics firm ClarityAI. His transition signals Sharplink’s aggressive push to develop global strategy in public markets and Ethereum-based digital infrastructure, leveraging his expertise in institutional crypto adoption.
The wave of corporate Ethereum accumulation reflects growing institutional confidence in the network’s long-term prospects, with companies racing to establish significant positions before broader market adoption accelerates.
