The purchase was executed at an average price of $118,519 per Bitcoin, marking another substantial addition to Metaplanet’s Bitcoin-focused treasury strategy. The Japanese firm has positioned itself as one of the most aggressive corporate Bitcoin adopters, viewing the digital asset as a long-term store of value against traditional currency debasement.
Metaplanet stated the acquisition “continues to strengthen our commitment to a bitcoin treasury strategy,” reinforcing its belief that Bitcoin serves as a strategic balance sheet asset. The move comes amid renewed institutional interest in Bitcoin, with several corporations exploring similar treasury diversification approaches.
