7-7-2025 – Japanese investment firm MetaPlanet has acquired an additional 2,205 Bitcoin for $238.7 million, bringing its total corporate treasury holdings to 15,555 BTC. The purchase was executed at an average price of $108,237 per Bitcoin, according to CEO Simon Gerovich.
The latest acquisition solidifies MetaPlanet’s position as the fifth-largest publicly traded company by Bitcoin holdings, trailing only MicroStrategy’s 597,325 BTC according to Bitcointreasuries.net data. MetaPlanet’s aggressive accumulation strategy has driven significant financial results, with Q2 2025 revenue reaching 1.1 billion yen ($7.6 million), marking a 42.4% year-over-year increase.
The company’s Bitcoin-focused business model has translated into substantial market gains, with shares climbing 345.98% year-to-date and jumping 7% following the purchase announcement. MetaPlanet has set an ambitious target of accumulating over 210,000 BTC by 2027 as part of what Gerovich describes as building sustainably under a “Bitcoin standard.”
The purchase comes as Bitcoin trades at $108,850, up 0.66% in the past 24 hours, reinforcing institutional appetite for the cryptocurrency despite ongoing market volatility.
