This purchase increases Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings to 18,888 BTC, valued at roughly $1.94 billion, with an average acquisition cost of $102,700 per coin.
Since pivoting to a Bitcoin-focused treasury strategy in December 2024, Metaplanet has aggressively expanded its cryptocurrency reserves, positioning itself as Japan’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder and the sixth-largest globally. The firm’s innovative “BTC Yield” metric, which tracks Bitcoin holdings relative to fully diluted shares, reported a remarkable 480.2% yield year-to-date for 2025.
This reflects Metaplanet’s success in leveraging capital market tools, including share and bond issuances, to fund its acquisitions.
