21-2-2025 – US President Donald Trump has doubled down on his vision to transform America into the world’s cryptocurrency hub during his keynote address at the Saudi-backed Future Investment Initiative Institute conference in Miami on Wednesday evening.
Speaking to a packed audience of global investors and industry leaders, Trump highlighted his administration’s commitment to positioning the United States at the forefront of digital asset innovation.
“Bitcoin achieved unprecedented heights because people recognise our dedication to establishing America as the crypto capital”, Trump declared, referencing the cryptocurrency’s recent performance.
The former president specifically praised Miami’s emergence as a blockchain technology hub, suggesting the city could maintain its position as a crucial centre for cryptocurrency development. “Miami appears to be where all the action is happening, and perhaps that’s how it should remain”, he remarked.
Trump’s latest comments align with his campaign promises to implement cryptocurrency-friendly regulations. At last summer’s Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, he boldly proclaimed, “The United States shall become the planet’s crypto capital and the world’s Bitcoin superpower”.
The cryptocurrency market has shown notable stability following its post-election surge, with Bitcoin trading around $97,000 as of Thursday morning.
However, Trump’s current enthusiasm for digital assets marks a significant departure from his previous stance. In 2019, he dismissed cryptocurrency on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, which are not money and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air”.
His administration’s recent initiatives, including the launch of the World Liberty Financial platform and the establishment of a national cryptocurrency policy group, have placed digital assets at the heart of economic policy-making.
